magic name

She said my name was a magic name
Weaving my
Ribbon braids and inking
My eyes
No lies, nothing behind there, just power, just fire
She said, turning me in the swivel chair and touched my
Angel face
Singing in whisper, with godly grace
Amazing voice, how sweet the sound
I once was lost but now I'm found she said
And kissed me
Winking, she said go
Your blood is air, you have no home
But what touches the soles of your shoes
You don't lean on anyone, she said
You fight alone, and never lose

But when I fight, in life or love, I lose a lot
My heart is hurt and everyone blames me
I say wrong things
Curses, cuts and lying stings
No one wants what I've got and if they do
They never keep it
Toss me back like small fish
Oath me and break me
Waxen seals on letters know more of
Love and unity than me
At least they know the end
I never know until I'm lifted up, torn in two

She said my name's a magic name
But the magic must have left or
Gotten faded or drained
Tarnished when life rained or jaded by
The hurt in my too-mortal soul
If magic is a human spark
I must be the coldest coal

But once and then in mirrors
Around a leaf, under corners
And entering exit doors it catches
Wind of me and I can feel the press
Smaller life but taller strength
Tangled tomes in smiles, a beam that is a street
The dance of drums and pound of ancient feet on fallow earth
Fire-bright snow hugs hallowed ground
And incubates my birth
A hundred years from yesterday I'll wake up in a tomb
And spit the dust out, push the death out
Step from the invert womb and tumble my fire on the chip-ice stars
Shut the sky and make it rain my words
Ever, under inside out, I will abide
Heal it all and ever till the end
Never better, weathered, kill the lay of blame
Swallow seas and hold it all inside
I'm just a blink
A puff of breath that soon meets death
But it matters none the same

God laid a light on me

I've got a magic name
